I wanted to share some “before” photos I finally snapped of Vinny the other day.
Vinny has had an eventful time since arriving. First up was some dewormer Thursday night after I weight taped him (just under 800 lbs and 14H). Next up was a visit from the dentist on Saturday. The dentist said his teeth hadn’t been done in probably 4 or 5 years, so it was good to get that taken care of. Vinny did require a little cocktail part way through, he was much more worried about having the left side of his mouth worked on than the right. Either way he recovered quickly and got back to eating. Dentist thought he was closer to 20 years old. We certainly will never know the truth!
On Monday Vinny got his feet done. I was worried he might be difficult about holding his feet up for the farrier as he had been occasionally for me to clean his feet but I held him and fed him cookies and he was an angel. Farrier said a few more trims and Vinny’s feet will be looking good.
Vinny went out without a halter on for the first time today so here’s hoping he is willing to be captured this evening. The last few nights he’s walked into his stall with just a treat to follow so I have a good feeling about it. He’s also starting to shed in earnest!
Honestly it feels like things at Morstone Acres are good again for the first time since Stampede got sick and I’m very thankful. Hopefully we can enjoy this arrangement for a while.
He’s such a cute guy. Glad he seems to be settling in and fitting in!
Thanks, he’s been doing so well!
Sounds like he’s settling in well! I’m glad they’re getting along. I bet Vinny appreciates all the excellent care!
Yes I think we got lucky. Other than being a bit shy and nervous about a few things he’s been pretty easy. I think he wasn’t sure about me at first between the dewormer and the horse dentist but he definitely loves the cookies and the shedding assistance, lol. The poor guy literally makes hair angels outside sometimes (and I keep failing at getting a picture!).
So glad things continue to go well. I second the idea that Vinny most likely appreciates all that great care!
He does nicker at me frequently which is absolutely adorable!
