Road Trip

The weekend before last I made a drive south to Columbus, Ohio where I stopped at Equus Now then proceeded on to Tracy‘s house. Clearly a meet up involving Miles needed to happen since we live only two and a half hours apart and what better excuse than checking out the last weekend of Quarter Horse Congress?

After I got into town and had done a perusal of Equus Now (where I bought nothing!) Tracy and I headed out to see Miles. The property where Miles lives is really gorgeous and I didn’t even see it all. The barns were clean and the horses were all fat and happy. There were scenic pastures with grass, an outdoor with lights (so jealous of the lights), and two indoors. Really just an awesome place to keep a horse. Tracy got Miles ready and we headed indoors since it was raining a bit.

Miles proceeded to show off his fancy forward trot and just how big he can now make his canter stride. Basically he was awesome. I got on Miles for a few minutes but there is no media proof (drat!). Evidently I make him look like a pony (not the first or last time I do that to a horse!) but he didn’t seem to mind and trotted around with me for a bit while I failed at trying to ride in jeans. Seriously how did I ride in jeans all the time as a kid, yuck! Evidently I will just have to come back again Tracy. 🙂

Tracys dog is just adorable and loves belly rubs.

Tracy and I then went back to her house and talked horses, dogs, jobs, and more while eating some great pizza with her husband. Sunday we headed out to the fairgrounds where Tracy almost bought a dog (he was adorable) and I managed to buy absolutely nothing horse related. I did however have some fabulous s’more mini donuts and we watched mounted shooting which was really interesting.

It was a great weekend and I’m so glad I finally got to head south and meet up with Tracy!

I’ve noticed flights from your new place to detroit and columbus are pretty cheap so that should be a good sign for future meet ups! 😉
