Good Stuff

I’d say this was a pretty good week for me. Let’s start from the beginning.

Good news with Stampede: I lunged the beast for the second time on Monday then hopped aboard on Wednesday. How was this horse ever crazy? He was lazy and happy to be out and about for our 10 minutes of walk and 10 minutes of trot that we did. Friday saw another lunging day, where I upped his cantering a bit to build up some more muscle. I will be riding him later this morning.

He looks so handsome in tack!

Good news with Phoenix: He, as usual, loves to work. He gets super excited in lessons, maybe a bit too much at times. He’s been my main man for two flat lessons a week for the past two weeks. Yesterday he was ripping my arms out because he really wanted to canter faster! I hope I can be that exuberant when I reach his age in human years!

Good news about tall boots: You will remember the first set of boots I was sent by La Mundial here. A little over a week ago La Mundial Boots take 2 arrived in the mail. I was a bit depressed because they sent me dress boots instead of field boots this time (why is this so hard?), but in the end they look nice and I’m ready to be done with the company. I was also a bit sad when I couldn’t get the right leg boot over my calf, but a quick trip to the tack shop had the ladies reassuring me that if I took them to a local place with a machine stretcher it would all work out. So I finally have custom tall boots, and they are beautiful!

Evidently I have skinny legs now!

Good news last night: It was the annual awards banquet for the showing association my barn is in. A fun night with friends and lots of ribbons!

I ended up third for the season in both of the divisions I did this year – novice adult hunter and novice adult equitation over fences. Here’s my show season recap that I wrote previously. Now just to get Stampede comfortable and in shape so we can have another good season!

Thanks! Stampede still needs to go see the vet for his back as he’s definitely sore (vet wants him in work for analyzing) but at least his foot is better. One step at a time!
