It’s been a pretty quiet week other than being crazy busy at work. I’m off work until Tuesday now, so I can take some time to recover and spend extra time at the barn. Even got a massage this morning, woo hoo!
Sunday – Lunged Stampy, he is getting really awesome at lunging. Just got right to work, didn’t try to play any games. Listened well to my vocal directions.
Monday – Rode P in the new Antares again. Heaven. Still need to figure out the best half pad set up. The saddle likes to sit a little lower in front than I would like.
Last night I had a flat lesson on Stampede. We worked on transitions between poles, which Stampede is really good at. It was trot the first pole, canter the second pole, and trot the last pole. Then the last pole became an X towards the end of the exercise.
Funny enough, at the Mark Leone clinic he told me to think about sitting like a bull rider. Holding on through the calf and letting my knee come off the saddle. It has really helped me stop gripping with my right knee and posting too high. Just a random comment he made that has made a difference which amuses me.
Heading out to the barn in a bit to ride P. I’d love to ride outside, but it is frigid and windy so it will probably be another indoor day. At least I can enjoy the Antares again!
Hope everyone has a good thanksgiving! I always eat at my parents in the early afternoon then hang out with the ponies afterwards.
I love his halter! It’s so pretty.
Thanks! I got one of them for each horse but for some reason it likes to twist around P’s head so I got him a different one. It was strange.
Yay for new saddle! I hope you find a pad that works well. They have so many shimmable options out there now!
Happy thanksgiving!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
You too!
