Thursday night started out as a ride with my friend Christie and her horse Mikey. It soon became obvious though that Mikey wasn’t moving correctly so Stampede and I found ourselves alone in the ring. It was a beautiful night out and Stampede surprised me by being perfect, if not lazy, for the entire ride.
Friday Phoenix and I found ourselves equally alone at the start of our ride as everyone else was finishing up. Phoenix however was not happy about it. We were out in the field for our ride and he kept looking back towards the barn and rushing whenever we came around the corner towards home. After a battle of wits he finally settled down enough that I switched to the outdoor ring and did enough work to make it clear he wasn’t done until he settled down and paid attention completely. Old man was trouble!
Saturday I did a flat lesson with Stampede and Christie did a flat lesson with Phoenix as her backup pony. Even after Friday’s battle P still had plenty of energy. Both boys were good and since it was nice and warm out both boys got their first baths of the season.
Looks like it was nice out!
That is a cool brand!
Thanks. I’ll take a close up sometime. I would say it would make him easier to identify if he were stolen but his big size is so rare that would get noticed first, lol.
